Heels and Ribbons

During my week researching shoes, I found 17th Century Men's shoes quite interesting. Why were men wearing high heels, and why were they decorated like women's shoes?
Early in this period, heeled boots were the fashion, but after the French King Louis XIV, men started desiring shapely legs. (as clearly shown in his portrait)

Here's a link to an informative website. http://www.headoverheelshistory.com/1600.html
