The Arrival

I've shown something Shaun Tan before. These are some pages from his silent graphic novel, the Arrival. I noted them for there uses of tone and perspective. He uses his knowledge of technical skills to create believable fantasy settings.

After this morning's lecture on perspective, I went to my laptop and researched Jan Vredeman De Vries a little more, after he had only a brief mention in the lecture.

For our game design project with Mr. Dodds we've chosen to do a story about a child in the blitz, who is desperately searching for his mother after a bombing.

Antoni Tapies

A Spanish abstract artist. He mixes marble dust, clay and other such things into his paint. I've noticed his likes crosses.

Josef Hoffmann

The architect I'm researching for our Little Boxes brief. He seems better known for his furniture and kitchen utensils than his buildings.

Art Nouveau Influence?

After this afternoon's lecture and brief I decided to look up art nouveau after Audrey Beardsley was mentioned and I was reminded of a current Japanese manga artist, Yoshitaka Amano, who looks as though he's influence by art nouveau, possibly.

I know we've moved into colour now, but I remembered this artist I found a while back and thought others might like him. He does these illustrations on tiny post it note sized papers.

Stephen Fry monologues about language

Shaun Tan

An animation by Shaun Tan, a favourite illustrator of mine. As the latest brief introduces us to storyboarding, I though this would be a thing to look back on. This version has Russian subtitles, as it was the only full version on youtube. It's not too much of a problem,
