Footwear

For the current brief we have been asked to conduct primary research on shoes. One aspect of our primary research is photography and here are some of the photographs I have produced.

Olivier Kugler

After Tony showed some examples of his work in Monday's lecture, I sampled more of this fine gentleman's artwork.

Keegan

I've been looking at Jonathan Keegan for a while now, and he was mentioned in another lecture today. I really like his style and he's a piece I found funny.

Abstracts

The abstract compositions I produced for the close cropping project. My scanner cut off a bit, but you can still see them fine. They are (from top left to bottom left) Trouble at 'mill, conker challenge, free fall, and park bench.

Chewing Conkers

It's been a while since I've uploaded anything of my own doing, so here is a quick idea for our new brief. The theme is conker challenge, and my idea is a challenge to eat a conker.

Egon Schiele

I really like Egon Schiele visual approach. It really gives the impression of the bone structure of human beings.

Close Cropping

As this brief is all about close cropping and composition, I thought I'd upload some graphic novel pages because graphic novels use a lot of close cropping. Here are some pages from Japanese (but printed left to right and in English for western audiences) graphic novels Akira (Katsuhiro Otomo) and Tekkonkinkreet (Taiyo Matsumoto) (Tony has shown concept art for the anime of Tekkonkinkreet in a few lectures).
